|
Joey joined the ministry at CBC in August 2007. Joey was born in 1983 and comes to CBC from Visalia, CA where he was raised. After completing his BA in Music Education/Vocal Performance at San Jose State University, he completed a year’s internship at Westgate Church. He loves to sing Southern gospel music and lead worship! He enjoys playing the occasional game of basketball and, of course, video games. An interesting fact: Joey has the ability to harmonize with himself!
Joey feels he is incredibly blessed that his job is to help others meet with God, as a body, on a weekly basis. His passion for ministry is the people and relationships that he gets to build while working at CBC. |

Student Minister
mike@cbclife.org x204 |
|
After serving in Children’s ministry and youth ministry for six years, Mike began working in Student Ministry in August 2004. Mike was born in 1980 in Colorado Springs and raised in San Jose. He has been married to Betsey since 2003 and they have two sons. Mike’s plan is to start Bible College soon. Mike’s fun-time is time spent with Betsey and his boys and trying the restaurants mentioned on the Food Network! Mike is an avid outdoorsman who loves taking road trips, hiking, running, and river rafting.
Mike absolutely loves watching students figure out why God has put them on this crazy earth! He enjoys watching students serve both locally and overseas with their families. His desire is that students wouldn’t get caught up in the world and that families would become stronger and stronger, having Christ as the center of their lives...and that they have fun just living!

Bill Smethers, Minister of Administration, Community Outreach & Member Care
bsmethers@cbclife.org x214
|
|
Bill joined CBC's staff on October 1, 1988. Prior to that time, he served as Executive Director of the Santa Clara County Fair for 20 years. Bill and his wife, Gen, have 3 grown children and 10 grandchildren. His family and children have been some of the greatest gifts given to him and spending time with them brings Bill blessings beyond measure.
Bill’s favorite pastime and hobby is working with youth. His greatest fulfillment and relaxation is in working and investing in the lives of young people. Gen and Bill have been privileged to lead, on a volunteer basis, a youth ministry called Youth Focus Inc., in which they have been able to reach out to hundreds of young people over the past 39 years from all over California. On his day off, Bill teaches at a local elementary school leading the 4th & 5th grade music program for 210 students.
Bill came to Christ when he was in the 6th grade through a youth pastor who taught him the true meaning of John 3:16. His greatest passion for ministry is to see Acts 2:42-47 lived out where the body of Christ is ministered to and the Lord adds daily to those being saved. Bill’s heart is to serve others and to endeavor to live out his life’s verse from Matthew 5:16, “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
