Having previous experience as overseas missionaries,
the Chandlers joined with Partners International
to serve in South Asia (covering India,
Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan
and Afghanistan). Asian culture greatly
respects long-term relationships and, over
the years, Tom and Clare have had the opportunity
to foster relationships with a number of
key church leaders in Asia.
In April of 2000, they were asked to assist
a large church in Singapore to reestablish
itself by sharpening its missions focus
and mentoring its leadership. They have
since phased out of that role and are focusing
on their ministry of leadership training
within India as well as Tom’s role as
South Asia Director for Partners International.
Tom’s responsibilities include identifying and recommending potential
new local ministry partners in South and
Southeast Asia. Due to this position, Tom
has opportunity to come alongside of ministries
and individuals to assist and give them
perspective and guidance for the future.
Within India, Tom and Clare and involved
with Joshua Vision India, in conjunction
with Indian partners of Partners International,
Dr. and Mrs. Vijayam. This project envisions
a minimum of one witnessing church in each
of the 4,000 unreached people groups in
India and deploying a “harvest force” of
40,000 believers.
