Myron Ashby, Council Chairman
My story: During the early years of my life, I believed in Jesus but I didn't know how that should affect my life. My life was marked by fear and doubt about how I was to relate to God. At the age of 22, some new friends helped me to "flesh-out" what a relationship with God looks like and I was captivated by the love God has for me. |
|
My vision for CBC: I desire that Crossroads Bible Church (CBC) be people who truly know and love God, who have the heart of God for those who need to know Jesus of all people groups, and who put their faith into action. |

John Brown
My story: I became a Christian in 1979 after several believers had witnessed to me over a 10-year period. I married my lovely wife, Janet, in 1981 and we have three children. We started attending CBC in 1984 and have been involved in supporting missions since 1989. We've been on several short-term missions to a Navajo reservation and Kenya. |
|
I believe all Christians are missionaries every day. We should live our lives so other people can see the love of Jesus in us. We need to be willing to share our faith by our words and actions whenever we have the opportunity. We spread the seeds. The Holy Spirit changes hearts. |

John Carlsen
My story: While growing up in Northern California and during my four years in the Navy, I attended a number of Christian churches. I learned about Jesus, but it wasn't until I was in my mid-twenties that I invited Jesus into my heart, and I have worshipped and served Him ever since. |
|
My vision for CBC: It is my desire to see prayer and worship move CBC into this 21st century as a strong body of missionaries in our city and in the world as we trust the Lord to lead us. (Proverbs 3:5-6) |

Walt Hoffer
My story: I was born in North Dakota in 1930 and moved to Montana the following year where I spent the next eighteen years. One of my favorite places to go as a youngster was to my grandparents' farm. I spent many long summer days plowing new fields, mowing summer hay, and just before school started, helping with the harvest of the wheat crops. It was at the end of those long days that are the most memorable. |
|
After dinner, my grandparents would listen to their Gallery-powered radio to find out what was happening around the world. After the news, my grandfather would sit down in his favorite rocking chair and spend time reading God's word and praying. As I closely watched him, I could see the tears run down his sunburned cheeks. As he spent his private time with the One he loved, worshiped, and served for eighty-six years, I met the same Person. I met Jesus at the age of eight in a small Baptist church in Baker, Montana. I love, worship, and serve the same God as my grandfather and my father. I consider this the greatest gift these two men could have ever given me.
My vision for CBC: My wife and I, along with our two children, joined Crossroads in 1979 and, with the exception of about nine months, have attended and served in many different areas of ministry during the past twenty-eight years. As I look back over the years, my vision and passion for Crossroads has never changed. My commitment is to prayer and service that our church will be a major voice in the community and around the world, telling people about Jesus. I believe that our church will have the effective ministry to meet the needs of every age group with a powerful family ministry. My real passion is for our younger people; Jr. High, High School, and College ages. We must be a full-service church to attract, train, and retain these young people to keep this church growing and strong until Jesus returns. |

Dan Lloyd
My story: While stationed overseas in the Air Force, I became a Christian in 1973. Someone took the time to share the Gospel and then nurture and encourage my walk with Jesus.
Most influential person in my life: My grandmother was the greatest example of someone who was loving, kind and always ready to sacrifice her time, energy and money to help someone in need. |
My passions: I enjoy taking mini-vacations with Della and our friends, spending time with our children and being blessed with such beautiful grandchildren. I also enjoy serving the Lord by blessing the lives of others.
My vision for CBC: That Crossroads will become a welcoming body of Christians who never lose sight of their calling to love others into the Kingdom and that we not grow weary in service (Philippians 1:6, Galatians 6:9). |

Gary Nobriga
My story: I was raised in Santa Clara and educated by the
St. Clare nuns. I was impressed by one of the
nuns who knew that my heart would never rest until
it rested in Christ Jesus. The memory of that
short but succinct statement resonated often
within me until some 25 years later when, in October
of 1974, in the midst of a serious depression and contemplating suicide,
I accepted Christ as my personal Lord and Savior.
At that point, I came to fully understand the
|
|
meaning of that message and what it meant to personally
rest in Christ and that He "delights in me"
(Psalm 18:16-19).
The most influential people in my life: Buster Stinchfield, who was instrumental in my accepting Christ. He stepped out in faith and introduced me to the fact that Christ wanted to have a personal relationship with me and not just be a distant God. My wife of 45 years is my real hero. She has taught me so much about love and loving and has made me to understand what real commitment, dedication and sacrifice mean. Thanks, Toni! Also influential have been former elders Cecil Turner and Jim Unruh (both deceased) and Dave Kirchner; the intense love for Christ they have displayed and the living of their lives have been great examples of Godly men to me. The Godly life of Rolf Engelbrecht has also greatly impacted my life.
My passions: Serving the Body of Christ at CBC and seeing Christ glorified through our church; spending time with Toni and our grandchildren; Christian fellowship through softball as well as getting in some fishing now and then.
My vision for CBC: To truly fulfill its vision to become a multi-cultural church, reaching the lost of the many cultures that Christ has brought to this Valley, that we would never reach or know otherwise; to see the men of CBC step up to lead their families as true men of Christ through our ministry to engaged and married couples. |

Steve Prouty, Council Vice-Chairman
My story: I accepted the Lord in 1976, but didn't start to really walk with Him until my wife, Cathy, and I started attending CBC in the fall of 1986. I can relate to a lot of believers who, while they claim Jesus as Savior, have failed to make Him Lord. Now that I know the joy of walking in His will and His way, I don't ever want to go back to the carnal life.
Most influential person in my life: My father. Despite the fact that he gave me mixed messages |
|
about how to live out life, he finished well. Most of what he did demonstrated that it is important to work hard, to be loyal to those you care about and to treat others with respect. He accepted the Lord nine months before he died and, at the age of 56, he shared with me the sadness he felt for having lived a life that didn't fit with what God wanted for him. He shared with me about times he yielded to the lies of the enemy, which only brought sadness and sorrow.
My passions: First and foremost is to see people accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. Until that happens, we do not have the Holy Spirit to hellp us grow as believers. But equally important is to see new believers be discipled. It isn't until we begin to grow in the knowledge of who Jesus Christ is that we begin to experience what it is to be alive and free in Christ. He wants to give us peace, joy, hope and love. It is available, if we would just yield to His will.
My vision for CBC: I would like to see the members of CBC have the same heart for the lost that Christ has and that we would follow His commandment to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, and mind and that we would truly love others as ourselves. |
