Marty and Jeanette Lavoie

Marty and Jeanette Lavoie celebrated 30 years of marriage on August 4, 2009. They have two adult children. They have been members of Crossroads since 1990, with Marty serving in a number of areas. His main area of passion and gifting is Facilitating/Teaching within the context of Small Group/Life Group ministries, and he has particularly enjoyed helping along a number of new believers in their faith journey. Jeanette delights in serving as "Teacher's Pet" along side Marty while he facilitates Small Group/Life Group ministries.

She also is a contributing author to the Crossroads Women’s bimonthly newsletter, Heartbeat, and coordinates meals for shut-ins. Marty’s life verse is Matthew 6:33: But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Jeanette’s life verse is 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. 5For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.

Cheri McLaggan

Cheri McLaggan and husband, Kent, have been married for 31 years. They have two adult children and one grandchild. In addition to serving as Deaconess, Cheri is involved in singing in the choir, serving in a homeless shelter, Sunday nursery care and leading a women’s Bible study at CBC. After just a few classes, it was clear to her that being a Deaconess was the next steps of how God could use Cheri to fulfill her spiritual gifts of Mercy and Helps. The Bible verses that Cheri relies upon are Micah 6:6, 8, With what shall I come before the LORD and bow down before the exalted God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old?... He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Ken Nelson
Ken Nelson stakes a claim that the Word of God contains all of the divine answers necessary to answer all of our questions in life, and it guides us on our journey as we become more Christ like, every day of our lives. He further acknowledges that we remain set aside in love for the glory of God, while spreading the “Good News”, until we can be with our Father once again in heaven for eternity. Until that time we live in the Spirit of God by Faith, Hope and Love, as we journey separately and together in the Body of Christ. As a Deacon, Ken wants to facilitate that journey for members of Crossroads. Ken’s life verse is Matthew 5:9: Blessed are the Peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
