Declaration of Faith
(What We Believe)
The following is the Declaration of Faith as stated in the Constitution and By-laws of Crossroads Bible Church. While it is not all-inclusive, it does represent some of the basic doctrines/teachings of the church. For a complete list, please refer to CBC’s Teaching Statement.
NOTE: The Scriptural references have been added here to identify the Biblical support for each statement, should you wish to study this for yourself.
3.0 DECLARATION OF FAITH.
3.1. There is one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
3.2. We accept the Bible as God’s infallible and inerrant Word and our only rule of faith and practice.
3.3. We accept Jesus Christ as God’s divine Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit, Virgin-born, who died on the cross as a substitutional sacrifice for our sin; He arose bodily from the dead and ascended into heaven where He is now, our interceding High Priest. He will come again in person to judge the living and the dead.
3.4. Man was created in the image of God, but fell into sin. We have all sinned in our own right and need a Savior to save us from the penalty of our sins. Salvation is by God’s grace through faith in Christ.
3.5. The church is an elect company of believers, who by the influence of the Holy Spirit were baptized into one body. We accept as Christians those who have been born again. We baptize by immersion only and receive into our local membership only penitent, baptized (immersed) believers.
3.6. Baptism, following confession, is an act of obedience to Christ entered into by the believer upon personal conviction through the Holy Spirit.
3.7. Marriage has been ordained and instituted by God. We believe the Bible defines “marriage” as the exclusive covenantal union of one man and one woman as a lifetime commitment. Any civil government’s sanction of a union will be recognized as a legitimate marriage by this church only to the extent that it is consistent with the definition of “marriage” found in these Articles.
3.8. Legitimate sexual relations are exercised solely within marriage. Hence, sexual activities outside of marriage are inconsistent with the teachings of the Bible and this church.
